In fact, the cause is often the release of relaxing, a natural hormone designed to help loosen joints in preparation for childbirth. Relaxing is often the cause of lower back pain and hip pain in women during pregnancy. With this in mind, massage therapists can help reduce the symptoms caused by relaxing and provide much-deserved relief.
Increases Circulation As your body changes and the baby grows, your blood flow might become restricted in certain areas of your body. When this happens, it can cause blood to pool and create swelling. Pregnancy massage aims to increase the circulation of your blood and your lymphatic fluid to keep everything moving in your body the way it should be. This results in easier healing, illness prevention, and removal of harmful toxins from the body.
Reduces Stress & Anxiety One of the most noticeable improvements women see after a pregnancy massage is in their mental health and wellbeing. Hormones, stress, and physical pain can make pregnant women susceptible to mood swings, anxiety, and depression. After a massage, the results on mental health are almost instant! We love seeing women walk out with big smiles on their faces.
Reduced Swelling Professional massages during pregnancy can seriously reduce swelling. Swelling in the hands, feet, legs, and arms is common during pregnancy, because some blood flow can be restricted thanks to that rapidly growing fetus! We know how much discomfort swelling brings to pregnant mothers, so we’re always happy to help ease the pressure.
Headache & Pain Relief Reduced circulation, body pain, and fatigue often result in constant headaches for pregnant women. For some, these even turn into migraines as the pregnancy progresses.
Many women come for a pregnancy massage so they can release tension that’s causing their headaches. Once that tension is relieved, pregnant women are less likely to suffer headaches. Even a one hour massage can have a major impact on preventing future headaches.
